Yongbongsan Area Regional Coexistence Hub and Onshore Gim Aquaculture Testbed Establishment
Hongseong County, Chungnam Province, announced that it has secured 48.8 billion KRW in provincial funding after two projects were selected for the second round of city and county autonomous projects, as reviewed and chosen by the Chungnam Provincial Balanced Development Committee.
This achievement follows last year’s first round, in which four projects were selected and 34 billion KRW in project funding was secured.
The selected projects include the Yongbongsan Area Regional Coexistence Hub Development Project and the Onshore Gim Aquaculture Testbed Establishment Project.
The 'Yongbongsan Area Regional Coexistence Hub Development Project' aims to create a complex cultural space and forest experience and play areas for both visitors to Yongbongsan, which boasts beautiful natural scenery, and local residents.
The 'Onshore Gim Aquaculture Testbed Establishment Project' is designed to build a research and demonstration complex to establish a stable production base for gim and to promote the sustainable development of the gim industry through onshore aquaculture production.
The county’s Innovation Strategy Office plans to supplement the project details and complete preliminary administrative procedures, such as feasibility studies, in order to begin full-scale implementation from 2026.
Lee Yongrok, Mayor of Hongseong County, stated, “All of the selected projects are strategic industries tailored to our county’s characteristics and will drive Hongseong’s development as new growth engines to address local extinction. We will do our utmost to ensure these initiatives lead to tangible results that residents can truly experience.”
