Ahn: "We Must Move Toward National Stability and Public Unity"

Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party classified as a potential presidential candidate, apologized to the public on the 4th regarding the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "As a responsible senior member of the ruling party, I apologize to the people."

On the same day, Ahn posted a message titled "Respecting the Constitutional Court's Ruling" on his Facebook, stating, "The reality that a president directly elected by the people has been impeached is devastating and deeply regrettable."

Ahn had unified candidacy with former President Yoon during the 2022 presidential election and served as the chairman of the 20th Presidential Transition Committee after Yoon's election.

Ahn emphasized, "The way to uphold the constitution and maintain the rule of law begins with respecting the ruling regardless of the outcome," adding, "Now that the Constitutional Court's verdict has been delivered, it is time to end the night of confusion and conflict and move toward national stability and public unity."

He also stated, "It is our collective historical duty to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again," and promised, "I also accept heavy responsibility for this situation and will do my best to overcome the current crisis and help our party regain the trust of the people."
