Muju County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 4th that it has been selected for the '2025 Public Property Status Survey Support Project' for the second consecutive year, securing a project budget of 20 million KRW.

This project, organized by the Korea Local Finance Association, aims to systematically and efficiently manage public property owned by local governments, enhance the value of property utilization, and promote the expansion of local tax revenue.

Throughout 2024, the county conducted on-site surveys of a total of 1,367 parcels, drawing attention for its detailed identification of idle properties and those suspected of unauthorized occupation. Idle public properties have been disclosed on the Muju County website, providing opportunities for private sector utilization and promoting efficient use of public assets.

The county installed informational signs at 82 locations suspected of unauthorized occupation to guide occupants on the proper usage procedures and shared solutions through administrative measures such as leasing and usage permits.

Ha Youngju, head of the Property Management Team in the Finance Division of Muju County, stated, “We are focusing on maintenance activities based on continuous status surveys to ensure the efficient use of public property, which is an asset for all residents,” adding, “We will continue to lead transparent and responsible administration through systematic management of public property.”

The county plans to inject an additional 20 million KRW from its own budget to actively pursue the public property status survey. Based on the achievements of the previous year's survey, the county will expand the survey targets, increase private access to underutilized idle properties, and focus on systematic management of properties under unauthorized occupation.

Meanwhile, in 2023, the county also reorganized over 6,500 mismatched records through a public property management ledger maintenance project, establishing an asset management system based on accurate data.
