Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) announced on the 4th that it is accepting applications for the resident participation budget proposal project, where residents can directly propose and review projects, until June 17.
Any Gwangju citizen can make a proposal, and during the application period (March 10 to June 17, 2025), applications can be submitted online through the website (Citizen Participation → Resident Participation Budget System → Proposal Submission) or offline at the administrative welfare centers of the resident's eup, myeon, or dong.
The 2026 Gwangju City resident participation budget aims for 10 billion KRW and will be divided into the contest field (4 billion KRW) and the general field (6 billion KRW). The target projects are single-year projects that directly benefit residents.
Proposed projects will undergo feasibility review by the relevant departments, followed by a resident vote, and then deliberation by the eup, myeon, dong regional meetings and the resident participation budget committee. Approved projects will be reflected in the 2026 budget plan and finalized after approval by the city council.
Mayor Bang Se-hwan said, “We hope that citizens will freely propose projects they have wished for through the resident participation budget system,” and added, “We ask for your interest and participation so that a resident participation budget that citizens can truly feel can be operated.”
