Gyeongbuk Province will regularly open the ‘Baro Market Gyeongsangbuk-do Branch,’ a direct transaction market representing agricultural products from Daegu and Gyeongbuk, every Saturday and Sunday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) from the 5th until December 7th at the Gyeongbuk Agricultural Resources Management Center in Buk-gu, Daegu.

The Baro Market Gyeongsangbuk-do Branch, which started in 2020 and is now in its sixth year, is a representative regular direct transaction market for Daegu and Gyeongbuk. About 100 farms from the province participate, directly producing and processing a variety of local agricultural specialties, which are sold under the concept of “picked directly, brought directly, sold directly.” This market has earned a reputation among consumers near Daegu as a valuable direct transaction venue where they can purchase fresh agricultural products at affordable, farm-level prices.

On the opening day, May 5th, there will be various discounts and experience events, such as selling 1.2kg of Seongju Chamoe (400 boxes) for 8,000 won, 20-30% discounts on seven types of Korean beef and pork, a wild garlic making experience, and a free 500g bag of rice for customers who purchase over 30,000 won, welcoming customers who have long awaited the market's return.

In addition, throughout the year, the Baro Market app (APP) and text messages will be used to provide weekly updates on discounted products and market operations. There will be discount events offering up to 20% off compared to market prices, as well as a customer point system (3% of purchase amount

accumulated) to encourage repeat visits and secure loyal customers.

In particular, during special events such as Family Month, Chuseok, and Kimjang season, the market will be operated with various events and promotional activities in collaboration with cities and counties, so visitors can enjoy more than just shopping?they can also experience the fun of visiting the market. This is expected to further establish the market as a space for leisure and experiences for citizens, raising expectations.

Meanwhile, last year, Baro Market operated a total of 70 times, attracting 109,000 visitors, 13,000 app (APP) registered members, and achieving sales of 2.2 billion won, making it a favorite among Daegu citizens.

An official who prepared the market stated that, in consideration of the recent rise in prices and the resulting contraction in consumer sentiment and socioeconomic atmosphere, the primary goal is to contribute to price stabilization. They plan to prepare discount events and promotions that Daegu citizens can truly benefit from.

Kim Juryoung, Director of Agricultural and Livestock Distribution at Gyeongbuk Province, stated, “We will continue to ensure that our Baro Market serves as a true marketplace where people can find excellent local agricultural specialties at reasonable prices, acting as a catalyst to help turn around the recent difficult economic situation.”
