FuturePlay announced that it will operate a joint acceleration program with the Seoul National University Startup Support Group to support the growth of promising startup teams within the university.

On the 4th, FuturePlay stated, “The day before, at Seoul National University in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, FuturePlay CEO Kwon Oh-hyung, the Seoul National University Startup Support Group, and representatives from investment firms participating in the acceleration program attended a ceremony to sign an agreement on the joint operation of the program.”

Through this program, the Seoul National University Startup Support Group will oversee recruiting participants and managing application submissions based on its high accessibility and network with on-campus startup teams. FuturePlay, with extensive experience in discovering, investing in, and nurturing deep-tech startups, will jointly manage document screening, mentoring, and investment with Seoul National University.

FuturePlay will assign dedicated sector-specific reviewers to the selected startup teams and provide more than three rounds of one-on-one customized mentoring. Since the mentoring focuses on problem definition and solution refinement, incorporating FuturePlay’s know-how accumulated over the past 10 years, especially for early-stage startups centered around research labs or faculty members, more tangible results are expected compared to typical startup education.

Up to eight startups finally selected will have opportunities to seek investment during the mid-term and final demo days of the program. When securing investment, financial and non-financial support such as linkage to government support projects, in-house expert advanced mentoring, and external networking will also be provided.

The program primarily targets Seoul National University student and faculty startup teams, research lab startups, and alumni-founded companies with less than seven years of operation that wish to raise seed (early-stage) investment. In particular, companies with no institutional investment history, faculty startups, and lab startups will be given preferential selection.

Kwon Oh-hyung, CEO of FuturePlay, said, “It is a great honor to be able to closely discover and work with excellent startup teams from Seoul National University from the early stages. We will do our best to support a customized nurturing process essential for the transition from research to business, based on FuturePlay’s years of accumulated experience and capabilities.”
