Yeongdeungpo-gu Supports Up to 30 Million Won for Relocating Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities Above Ground

Support for Public Facilities with 50 or More Parking Spaces Required to Install EV Charging Stations
Applications Accepted Until April 30... Strengthening Initial Fire Response and Minimizing Damage

Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will actively promote a project to relocate electric vehicle charging facilities above ground and support the installation of safety equipment to enhance the safety of electric vehicle charging facilities.

Amid growing concerns about electric vehicle fires, the plan is to relocate charging facilities installed in underground parking lots to above ground to resolve difficulties in initial fire suppression and reduce the possibility of damage spreading. For charging facilities where above-ground relocation is difficult, support will be provided for the installation of thermal imaging cameras and fire extinguishers to create a safe environment.

Public facilities that have fulfilled the obligation to install charging facilities with 50 or more parking spaces are eligible for support, including ▲Type 1 and 2 neighborhood living facilities ▲medical facilities ▲educational and research facilities ▲office facilities.

Partial support will be given primarily for the cost of relocating charging facilities above ground, and if relocation is difficult, partial support will be provided for the cost of installing safety equipment such as fire extinguishers. The support scale is within 50% of the total project cost per facility, up to a maximum of 30 million KRW.

The application period is until April 30, and the facility management entity can apply. Applicants can download the application form from the ‘Notices and Announcements’ board on the district website and submit it by mail or visit the district office’s Environment Division. Afterward, final support recipients will be selected through on-site inspections and evaluation by a review committee.

Going forward, the district plans to conduct maintenance status inspections at least once a year for charging facilities installed through the support project to continuously ensure a safe usage environment.

Last year, the district conducted a fire safety survey on 47 public parking lots with electric vehicle charging facilities and worked to enhance the safety of charging facilities by installing 51 fire extinguishers approved by the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute.

Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “This project aims to reduce the fire risk of underground charging facilities and provide residents with safer opportunities to use electric vehicles. We hope for much interest and participation.”
