Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that the Pyeongtaek Museum construction project has passed the second phase of the local finance investment project review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The local finance investment review is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety or local governments examine the necessity and validity of a project before budgeting to prevent duplicate investments.

The total project cost is 42.1 billion KRW. The city plans to build the museum with a total floor area of 7,370㎡, from one basement floor to three above-ground floors, in Hambaksan Central Park in Godeok International New City. The museum will include exhibition halls, storage rooms, a video exhibition room, and education rooms.

Jung Jang-seon, mayor of Pyeongtaek, said, "Passing the review means that the government has recognized the necessity of the project and the validity of the plan," adding, "We will do our best to build the museum as a cultural landmark that highlights Pyeongtaek's history and life."
