Confusion Over Tariff Rate:
25% Announced by Trump,
26% Listed in White House Annex
The United States has finalized the reciprocal tariff rate to be imposed on South Korea at 25%.
According to the annex of the reciprocal tariff executive order released by the White House on the 3rd (local time), South Korea's reciprocal tariff rate was revised from 26% the previous day to 25%.
When President Trump announced the reciprocal tariffs at the White House Rose Garden the previous day, the tariff rate chart he held showed South Korea's rate as 25%. Later, the White House executive order annex listed it as 26%, causing confusion over the tariff rate. However, with the annex being revised again that day, South Korea's tariff rate was finally set at 25%.
President Trump announced country-specific reciprocal tariffs for all trading partners worldwide at the White House Rose Garden the previous day. After applying a basic tariff of 10% to all countries, he reviewed each country's tariff and non-tariff barriers and imposed a '10%+α' tariff on so-called 'worst offender' countries deemed to have high trade barriers. Among the countries with Free Trade Agreements (FTA), South Korea was subject to the highest tariff rate of 25%.
