The Gumi City Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Kim Jangho) held a meeting of the '2025 Gumi City Scholarship Fundraising Promotion Committee' in the city hall's main conference room on the 2nd, where they discussed strategies for building the scholarship fund.
About 30 committee members attended the meeting, including newly appointed members. The focus was on promoting the scholarship program and activating fundraising efforts. The promotion committee consists of 32 representatives from the local community and towns, and will carry out various activities over the next two years to expand the scholarship fund.
Yoon Sanghun, president of the Gumi City Sports Association, was elected as the new committee chairman. Chairman Yoon stated, "The local community must unite as one to foster talented individuals for Gumi's future," and added, "Together with the committee members, I will actively lead fundraising activities."
Kim Jangho, the chairman, said, "The promotion committee will play a key role in enhancing Gumi's educational competitiveness," and urged, "Please do your best with a sense of duty to achieve the 100 billion KRW scholarship fund goal."
Meanwhile, since 2008, the Gumi City Scholarship Foundation has raised a total of 33.8 billion KRW in scholarship funds and awarded 4.2 billion KRW in scholarships to 2,590 students. The foundation also operates the 'Seoul Gumi Haksuk,' a dormitory for local students continuing their studies in the Seoul metropolitan area, contributing to talent development.
In addition, the foundation runs various recognition programs for donors, such as the 'High-Value Donor Hall of Fame,' 'public parking fee discounts,' and 'invitations to major city events,' to encourage further contributions to the scholarship fund.
