This exchange was planned as a result of connections made at the 2024 Glocal Education Expo, with the goal of establishing a long-term cooperative system. Students from both countries attended classes together and participated in various activities, sharing meaningful moments as they learned about and connected with each other's cultures.
In particular, students from Hadeland Folk High School experienced the history and culture of Wando. They visited the Jang Bogo Memorial Hall and learned about the achievements of Jang Bogo, who led maritime activities during the Unified Silla period, gaining a new understanding of Wando as a center of ancient East Asian maritime exchange.
They also explored the Jangdo Cheonghaejin Historic Site, sharing a deep impression of Korea's history and culture. One Norwegian student commented, "Experiencing the traditions and history of Wando firsthand gave me a new perspective."
Lee Cheolyeong, Superintendent of Education, stated, "This international exchange goes beyond a simple visit and is a true 'educational journey' through joint learning and cultural sharing. Wando will continue to create diverse international exchange opportunities to become a global education city."
Principal Arne Ruste said, "The experiences in Wando will remain a very special memory for the students, and we hope to continue such exchanges in Norway as well."
Meanwhile, the Wando Office of Education plans to continue leading glocal future education through ongoing and active international exchanges.
