Introduction of Universal Connection Module (UCM2) to Prevent Bottlenecks
Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital announced on the 3rd that it will expand the operation of its blood test automation system (Cobas Connection Modules, CCM) in the new hospital opening on July 7.
CCM is a system that fully automates blood analysis and testing, which provides crucial information for disease diagnosis. The hospital has also introduced, for the first time in Korea, a Universal Connection Module (UCM2) to prevent bottlenecks caused by a large influx of samples.
This integrated solution automates the entire process from blood collection to transportation, sorting, testing, storage, and disposal, allowing the system to handle large volumes of samples quickly and accurately without errors, replacing tasks that were previously performed manually.
After testing, samples are automatically refrigerated as they move along the track.
Hospital Director Lee Moonsu said, "This will improve the accuracy of tests and reduce patient wait times. It will also greatly enhance the convenience for outpatients, including those in the emergency room, who are waiting for same-day test results."
Meanwhile, the new hospital was built right next to the current facility, on a 45,300-square-meter site, with five basement floors, fifteen above-ground floors, and a capacity of 1,000 beds.
