Chungnam Provincial Council Member Shin Soonok Proposes Ordinance for Family Care Allowance Support

"Expectations for Creating a Stable Childcare Environment and Easing Economic Burden"

Chungnam Provincial Council Member Shin Soonok Proposes Ordinance for Family Care Allowance Support Chungnam Provincial Council Member Shin Sunok

The Chungnam Provincial Council is establishing a legal basis to provide allowances to family members who take care of children on behalf of dual-income households.

The council announced on the 3rd that it has given advance notice of the “Chungcheongnam-do Family Care Support Ordinance,” which was proposed by Shin Sunok, a proportional representative from the People Power Party.

The ordinance establishes a foundation for supporting family care, allowing parents to entrust their children with peace of mind while engaging in economic activities.

The core of the ordinance is to allow the provision of allowances to “relatives within the fourth degree of kinship, including grandparents,” who care for children in place of parents in dual-income families.

The main contents include stipulations on the governor’s responsibilities to create a stable childcare environment, the establishment and implementation of a basic plan for family care support, support projects such as care allowances, and the duties and responsibilities of childcare assistants.

Shin stated, “Since many parents are struggling to balance parenting and work, I hope that the enactment of this ordinance will help create a stable childcare environment through family care and alleviate the economic burden.”

She added, “Beyond simple financial support, I hope this ordinance will serve as a meaningful measure to strengthen family bonds and redefine the value of intergenerational care.”

The ordinance regarding family care support in Chungnam is scheduled to be reviewed at the 358th temporary session, which will open on the 8th.
