The Damyang-gun Public Health Center in Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that it operated the "On-site Psychological Support: After-lunch Psychological Cafe" program for 29 staff members of the Damyang Office of Education on the 2nd.
This program was organized to promote mental health and prevent suicide among office workers. It consisted of mental health screening tests, suicide prevention education, and mind-healing activities.
Participants took part in mental health screening tests such as depression and stress assessments, mental health management education, and a mind-healing program where they made their own aroma soap, allowing them to relieve daily stress.
One staff member who participated in the program shared, "I usually experience a lot of work-related stress, but this opportunity allowed me to objectively check my mental state. In particular, the aroma soap-making activity was a great help in finding peace of mind away from daily routines."
The county plans to expand the "After-lunch Psychological Cafe" program to include 100 office workers in the area by November. For staff identified as high-risk for mental health issues, expert counseling and hospital referral services will be provided, along with ongoing monitoring and follow-up care to support their return and adaptation to work.
A county official said, "We expect this program to help identify mental health issues among office workers early and connect them to appropriate treatment and management, thereby improving their quality of life. Along with raising awareness about mental health, it will also contribute to emotional stability, increased self-esteem, improved productivity, and a better working environment for employees."
