Namyangju City Conducts Jeong Yak-yong Childcare Course Training for Childcare Staff

Jeong Yak-yong’s Spirit Permeates Childcare

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Ju Gwang-deok) announced on the 3rd that it conducted childcare staff training on the 2nd at Dasan Hall to ensure the smooth operation of the ‘Jeong Yak-yong Childcare Program’.

Namyangju City has been promoting this unique childcare program since last year to help young children encounter the spirit and achievements of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong through play and to grow with pride as citizens of Jeong Yak-yong.

The training was held with about 500 participants, including Mayor Ju Gwang-deok and childcare staff from facilities participating in the Jeong Yak-yong Daycare Center.

Invited professional instructors explored Jeong Yak-yong’s life and philosophy with the childcare staff under the themes ‘Jeong Yak-yong Met in the Hot Water’ and ‘Creating the Jeong Yak-yong Childcare Program,’ and sought ways to link Jeong Yak-yong’s spirit and achievements to the childcare curriculum.

Mayor Ju Gwang-deok emphasized, “It is a great achievement, unprecedented anywhere else, to establish a special childcare program by integrating the spirit of Jeong Yak-yong, a representative figure of Namyangju City, into care and education,” and added, “Active interest and participation of childcare staff are essential for the establishment and success of the ‘Jeong Yak-yong Childcare Program.’”

He continued, “As Jeong Yak-yong said, ‘Raising one child is like creating a whole world, and raising one child properly is more important than saving a thousand adults,’ each childcare staff member present here today is truly the protagonist who carries out that meaning,” expressing deep gratitude and encouragement.

Namyangju City plans to conduct additional training on the 10th under the themes ‘Dasan’s Family Love and Child Education’ and ‘Meeting Jeong Yak-yong through Play,’ and in May, June, and July, it will operate △ Jeong Yak-yong’s Birthplace Healing Workshop △ Case Presentations △ Small Group Activities to enhance the completeness of the program.

Meanwhile, the city was recognized for its contribution to developing a regional specialty program with the ‘Jeong Yak-yong Childcare Program’ last year and received the ‘Prime Minister’s Award’ for childcare development merit. It began pilot operations at 200 daycare centers in the area and has expanded to 280 centers this year.
