A Breeze of Hope in Yeongdeok: Continuous Donations for Wildfire Recovery

Diseq, Yungjin, and Yeongdeok and Yeonghae Remicon Each Donate 100 Million KRW in Relief Funds

In Yeongdeok-gun, where the worst wildfire in history resulted in 21 casualties and the complete destruction of over 1,500 households, support from various sectors across the country is pouring in, providing significant help for recovery efforts.

First, mid-sized company Diseq in Busan (CEO Yoon Seokyong), metal processing company Yungjin in Pohang (CEO Lee Sanggeun), and local entrepreneur Cho Cheollo, chairman of Yeongdeok and Yeonghae Remicon, each donated 100 million KRW in relief funds.


Additionally, public officials from Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do collectively contributed 20 million KRW in donations and goods worth 25 million KRW. Ocean Beach Golf & Resort (CEO Cho Jaegwan) donated 35 million KRW, and KD Transportation Group's Yeongdeok Terminal sent 20 million KRW along with messages of encouragement.


Furthermore, the Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Filial Piety Association donated 4 million KRW and goods worth 6.55 million KRW. The 39th alumni group of Jipum Elementary School donated 6 million KRW. Pohang Steelers coach Park Taeha, who is originally from Yeongdeok, contributed 5 million KRW. The Yeongdeok County Administrative Alumni Association and Kim Seongrak, chairman of the Yeongdeok County Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, along with his family, also donated 5 million KRW to Yeongdeok-gun, sharing in the pain of the wildfire victims.

As of the 3rd, wildfire recovery donations received by Yeongdeok-gun amount to 320 general donations totaling approximately 1.22315 billion KRW through the Yeongdeok Welfare Foundation, and 13,026 donations totaling approximately 1.36635 billion KRW through the Hometown Love Donation program, making a combined total of 13,346 donations and 2.58953 billion KRW received.


In addition, over 2,000 people have volunteered to help Yeongdeok-gun so far, and countless organizations, groups, and community members are joining forces to aid in wildfire recovery efforts.


Those wishing to donate for wildfire recovery in Yeongdeok-gun can participate through general donations via the Yeongdeok Welfare Foundation or through the Hometown Love eum or WeGive platforms for the Hometown Love Donation program.
