"Possibility of Dismissal: 5 to 3 or 4 to 4"
Jang Dong-hyuk, a member of the People Power Party, mentioned the fact that President Yoon Seok-yeol was released due to the court's cancellation of his detention and predicted that the impeachment motion against President Yoon would be dismissed.
On the 3rd, Jang appeared on Channel A radio's 'Political Signal' and said, "I expect the dismissal to be either 5 to 3 or 4 to 4."
He added, "In fact, the conclusion was probably reached much earlier," explaining, "It takes a lot of time to logically write the decision, gather various opinions if there are multiple views, and then make final revisions."
Regarding the background of the People Power Party's expectation that the impeachment will be dismissed, he explained, "At first, the charge of rebellion was removed from the impeachment reasons. Later, it became clear that the memo and testimony of Hong Jang-won (former 1st Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service) and the testimony of Kwak Jong-geun were fabricated or obtained through inducement and coercion, so they did not match the facts."
He continued, "The situation completely reversed when the court judged that the president's detention was unlawful and canceled the detention," adding, "Considering these circumstances, I think it is unlikely that the impeachment will be upheld."
Jang also pointed out that the Democratic Party of Korea is pushing for an amendment to the Constitutional Court Act that would prevent the acting president from nominating a constitutional court justice on behalf of the president, saying, "I think the Democratic Party also senses that the situation is not going well."
Furthermore, he said, "If the president returns, the party will unite as one," and added, "There is public sentiment united during the martial law and impeachment process, as well as the public sentiment gathered by our party members and supporters."
