[Seoul Mobility Show] Genesis Unveils 'X Gran Coupe and Convertible' World Premiere

Introducing a New Flagship Vision for the 10th Anniversary
Debuting in Next Year's WEC Championship with a V8 Engine

Genesis celebrated its 10th anniversary by unveiling the 'X Gran Coupe Concept' and 'X Gran Convertible Concept' for the first time in the world at the '2025 Seoul Mobility Show' held on the 3rd at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Song Min-gyu, Vice President and Head of Genesis Business Division, stated, “Since its launch, Genesis has shared the brand’s unique sensibility and values with over 1.3 million customers worldwide over the past 10 years. We will take this Seoul Mobility Show as a new starting point and plan to introduce various models that embody the high-performance technology and future luxury design direction that Genesis pursues.”

The X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible are 2-door concept models based on the flagship sedan G90. Based on Genesis’s design philosophy of 'Dynamic Elegance,' they feature newly interpreted dual-line graphics on the front, a low-slung cabin and roofline, and a smooth silhouette with the B-pillar removed, combining flagship presence and sculptural beauty.

The side profile emphasizes the vehicle’s volume with a long hood and wide, bulging fenders. Frameless long doors and a large 'DLO (Day Light Opening)' that continues seamlessly without a B-pillar create a silhouette that naturally connects the interior and exterior. The convertible model extends the beltline to the rear, separating the soft-top roof from the body, and adds a gently rising rear character line to emphasize graceful and elegant proportions.

Additionally, the X Gran Coupe applies a deep green color inspired by olive trees, while the X Gran Convertible features a deep burgundy color inspired by premium Italian wine.

Inside, the wing-shaped elements that were previously divided on the left and right of the G90 cluster are connected into a single curve to enhance driver-focused immersion. Aluminum spokes with precise patterns are added to the bottom of the steering wheel, improving both visual balance and operability.

The front seats integrate a belt-in-seat structure, rear seat air vents, and an integrated rear seat display. Premium crystal materials are used throughout, including paddle shifters, air vents, and the center console, creating a diverse flow of light depending on natural lighting. The floor mats feature quilting that shapes olive leaves, providing a differentiated riding experience.

The interior of the X Gran Coupe uses natural leather combining olive green and cognac colors. This leather is eco-friendly, produced without harmful chromium by utilizing wastewater generated after refining olive oil. Olive wood is applied to the dashboard and door trims, and special backlight graphics engraved with olive leaf patterns are added to the doors, creating a warm and deep atmosphere.

The X Gran Convertible’s interior is filled with natural leather in a bluish tone reminiscent of premium wine grapes, and eucalyptus wood with a distinctive gloss is applied to complete a luxurious interior.

Yoon Il-heon, Executive Director of the Genesis Design Center, said, “This is a new form of flagship tailored to customers’ diverse tastes and lifestyles. The X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible, which started from different inspirations, both clearly demonstrate Genesis’s identity.”

Additionally, Genesis unveiled the 'GMR-001 Hypercar (hereafter Hypercar)' design for the first time in Korea and announced plans to enter endurance racing. Inspired by the Genesis Magma program, the hypercar emphasizes agile vehicle performance through a black color finish and highly refined design.

Starting next year, Genesis will compete in the 'World Endurance Championship (WEC)' with two vehicles and will also enter two vehicles in the 'WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (WTSCC)' from 2027.

Under the philosophy of 'Hyperspeed,' Genesis is fully engaging in engine and vehicle development for motorsports. Based on a newly designed V8 engine, Genesis is collaborating with the world-renowned race car manufacturer Oreca to develop and secure vehicle performance and durability.

Legendary driver Jackie Ickx, along with top experts such as Genesis Magma Racing drivers Andre Lotterer and Pipo Derani, are conducting joint research and testing at a dedicated facility near the Paul Ricard Circuit in France.

Cyril Abiteboul, Head of Hyundai Motorsport Corporation and General Manager of Genesis Magma Racing, said, “Endurance racing demands strong resilience and flawless execution, which deeply aligns with the values Genesis pursues. The GMR-001 will be an important starting point to showcase Genesis’s potential and identity as a high-performance brand.”
