Formation of Joint Public-Private Inspection Team
Inspection of Price Tag Display and Other Practices
Gochang County in North Jeolla Province will form a joint public-private inspection team led by Deputy Governor Kim Youngsik starting from the 3rd Cherry Blossom Festival, and operate a "Price Gouging Report Center" during the festival period.
According to the county on the 3rd, the joint public-private inspection team will focus on inspecting whether price tags are posted for food items sold at the festival venue, whether prices are set appropriately, and whether clear information such as weight is provided, while thoroughly cracking down on unfair business practices.
First, price tags for food and other items sold at the festival venue will be posted not only at the entrance but also outside each sales booth, making it easy for visitors to check prices and enhancing convenience.
During the festival period, a Price Gouging Report Center will be operated at the venue to provide immediate on-site response to reports of price gouging, seat charges, and other unfair business practices, as well as to actively address visitor complaints.
In addition, participants operating sales booths at the festival were given advance training on hygiene, customer service, excessive pricing, bundling sales, and unfair practices in order to prevent price gouging.
Kim Youngsik, Deputy Governor, said, "We will strengthen guidance and inspections to eradicate price gouging and establish a sound commercial order so that residents and visitors do not experience inconvenience."
