GS25 Extends '1,000 Won Coffee' Event from Last Month
Sales Jumped 44% Last Month as Cost-Effective Consumption Culture Spreads
Seven Eleven Offers 50% Discount on 'Seven Cafe' Ice Regular
Convenience stores are lowering the price of convenience store coffee to the 1,000 won range for a month in response to the spread of cost-effective consumption culture. This event considers the fact that consumers seeking convenience store coffee are increasing as cost-effective consumption expands due to high inflation.
GS25 is extending the "Hot Americano (M) 1,000 won" event for another month in April, following March. Provided by GS25.
According to the distribution industry on the 3rd, GS25 extended its '1,000 Won Coffee' event, which was held last month, until this month. GS25 sold its coffee brand 'Cafe25' hot Americano (M) at 1,000 won, 300 won lower than the previous 1,300 won.
The number of customers using Cafe25 significantly increased due to the 1,000 Won Coffee event. The average daily sales volume of hot Americano (M) per store increased by 44.4% compared to the previous month and by 18.2% compared to the same month last year. The proportion of customers in their 20s and 30s also greatly increased. Among purchasers of the event item hot Americano, the ratio of those in their 20s and 30s increased by 122.7% compared to the previous year.
GS25 believes that the demand for low-priced coffee has increased as cost-effective consumption culture spreads mainly among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). It is also analyzed that maintaining coffee shop-level quality by using Swiss premium coffee machines such as the 'Jura Machine' and 'Franke Machine' and specialty-grade blended beans had an impact.
Lee Gyu-hyeok, Manager of the Counter FF Team at GS Retail, said, "Thanks to the enthusiastic response from customers to Cafe25, GS25 has extended the '1,000 Won Coffee' event into April." He added, "Amid the continuous rise in coffee prices due to high inflation, we aim to satisfy both cost-effectiveness and emotional satisfaction for customers through '1,000 Won Coffee.'"
