Gwangjin-gu Moves into New Office... Gwangjin-gu to Create 6,000 Jobs This Year

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is establishing the '2025 Gwangjin-gu Job Policy' and striving to create quality jobs.

Last year, the district created 6,318 public jobs, achieving 105% of the initial target of 6,000 jobs. This year, it will implement a total of 64 projects across 30 detailed tasks under five core strategies: ▲ expanding employment opportunities through job infrastructure development ▲ creating public jobs and a safe job environment ▲ customized employment support and job competency enhancement by target group ▲ nurturing young talent through youth communication ▲ revitalizing local employment by strengthening the self-sustainability of local industries.

With a 4% increase from the previous year, 55.7 billion KRW will be invested to accelerate the creation of quality jobs.

First, the focus will be on creating future growth engines and securing new growth drivers. Based on the '2040 Gwangjin Re-Creation Plan,' job creation infrastructure tailored to the characteristics of the region will be developed. With the development of the Jayang 1 Redevelopment Promotion Zone, a large-scale complex is expected to soon move into the area around Guui Station, driving regional development. The Gwangjin-gu Office integrated building, advanced business complexes, hotels, and officetels will be established, with approximately 6,000 people expected to work full-time in commercial facilities.

Customized jobs will be supported by social class. Notable initiatives include the operation of the Youth Irumteo, a startup space for prospective young entrepreneurs, the creation of a youth welfare center for sharing rest and hobby activities, and the youth cultural life voucher project for capacity building.

New job policies for seniors and socially vulnerable groups will also be introduced. A cafe will be established in Gwangjin Supnaru Park, employing senior baristas to support the social participation of the elderly. A cafe for people with disabilities will be newly opened in the lobby on the first floor of the new Gwangjin-gu Office building to create jobs for the disabled, and car wash and disinfection training will be provided to people with developmental disabilities to support their employment and independence.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I understand that many residents are facing difficulties due to the economic downturn. We have prepared job policies to stabilize the livelihood economy and create jobs tailored to the characteristics of the region. In particular, this year, we expect a significant increase in local jobs through attracting large corporations and customized job policies.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to create quality jobs that residents can genuinely feel.”
