Spring Flowers Planted at Key Locations Including Olympic Bridge North Traffic Island
31,000 Flower Seedlings Distributed to Community Centers and Related Institutions Through Our Neighborhood Flower Street Project
Around 900 Hanging Flower Pots to Be Installed on Major Roads Such as Cheonho-daero and Jamsil Bridge This Month
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has redecorated major traffic islands and street flower beds in the area with spring flowers to welcome the new spring season.
This flower path project is part of the 'Four Seasons Flower Path Creation Project,' which involves planting and cultivating flower seedlings in urban areas to allow residents to enjoy a vibrant spring even in the city.
First, from the 22nd to 23rd of last month, flowers were planted starting from the district office green zone, followed by Achasan Forest Library, Jayang Intersection, and the traffic islands at the northern end of Olympic Bridge. The seedlings were selected to suit the lively spring atmosphere and the street environment, including lupinus, anemone, poppy, and daffodil.
Next, through the Our Neighborhood Flower Street Creation Project, 31,000 spring flowers of five varieties such as viola and pansy were distributed to related institutions including each neighborhood community center and fire station. This creates a colorful and pleasant environment throughout the neighborhood, bringing vitality.
This month, to allow more residents to see and enjoy the flower paths, about 900 hanging flower pots will be installed. They will be decorated with light-colored flowers such as geranium and verbena that do not interfere with vehicle traffic on major roads and pathways including the central bus lane on Cheonho-daero, the northern passage of Jamsil Bridge, and Jangpyeong Bridge.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “I hope many residents will enjoy the feeling of spring through this spring flower path creation,” and added, “We will continue to cultivate beautiful flower paths suitable for each changing season to create a pleasant urban environment where anyone wants to walk.”
