4,365 Cherry Trees in Full Bloom
A Spectacular Scene Unfolds
As cherry blossoms are in full bloom at Baegundae near POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Ko Jaeyoon), Kumhodong is emerging as a popular cherry blossom destination. The 4,365 cherry trees planted along the Baegundae trail and residential complexes create a spectacular scene, offering citizens delightful memories.
Previously, Gwangyang Steelworks began restricting vehicle access from March 28 to April 6 on the road between the Baegun Fitness Center intersection and the Kumho Ground Golf Course intersection along the cherry blossom path near Baegundae, to ensure the safety and convenience of visitors.

Since March 28, when the cherry blossoms began to bloom in earnest, the number of visitors to Baegundae has increased. The trail around Baegundae, where visitors can enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms while walking, is especially popular among families.
Gwangyang Steelworks has also prepared various facilities for visitors during the cherry blossom season. Traffic controllers have been stationed throughout the area, and guide signs have been installed to help citizens enjoy the cherry blossoms safely and comfortably.
In the evening, landscape lighting is turned on along the cherry blossom path and at the nearby artificial waterfall, creating a colorful and beautiful night view.
A citizen who visited the cherry blossom path on April 1 said, "I'm really happy that we have such a beautiful cherry blossom path in our area. The night lights are especially spectacular, making it a special experience to enjoy the cherry blossoms even at night."
A representative from Gwangyang Steelworks stated, "The Baegundae cherry blossom path brings joy to many citizens every year. We will continue to provide support and maintenance to enhance its value as a cherry blossom attraction."
Meanwhile, Kumhodong, where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, is gaining popularity not only among local residents but also among tourists from outside the region. From March 28 to 30, the 10th Gwangyang Cherry Blossom Cultural Festival, hosted by Gwangyang City at Kumhodong Sculpture Park, featured a variety of cultural events, busking performances, food markets, and various game booths, transforming Kumhodong into a venue for community communication and harmony.
