The "April 9 Jwacheon Market Independence Movement Reenactment" commemorates the independence movement that took place on April 9 at Jwacheon Market in Jangan-eup, following the March 1st Movement of 1919, which demanded national independence. The event has been held since 2018 to remember the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs and to carry on the spirit of the independence movement for the nation’s freedom.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. and will include a commemorative Korean traditional music performance, a recitation of patriotic poetry, singing of the March 1st Movement song, three cheers for independence (manse), and a flower offering and incense burning ceremony.

As part of the event, Jangan-eup residents participating in local autonomy programs will exhibit watercolor paintings related to the independence movement and POP artworks featuring famous quotes from independence activists. There will also be a "Message Wall" where visitors can leave messages of gratitude to the patriotic spirits, making the event more meaningful with a variety of programs.

Park Seyul, Chairman of the Jangan-eup Residents' Autonomy Committee, said, "This event is an occasion to inherit the noble spirit of our forebears who rose up for the restoration of our country during a dark period of lost sovereignty. I hope many residents will join us."

Park Kyunghee, Chief of Jangan-eup, stated, "I hope this event will inspire local pride and serve as an opportunity to carry on the spirit of the independence movement."
