The mayor emphasized, “The budget is the foundation for policy realization and the driving force behind changes in citizens' lives,” adding, “Please actively consider various alternatives such as linking national and provincial funds and private cooperation for the projects cut from the supplementary budget to ensure that citizens do not suffer any disadvantages.”

Regarding the achievement of selecting Seongsa Creative Innovation Campus as the final site for the ‘Gyeonggi Northern AI Campus’ construction project, Mayor Lee said, “Seongsa Creative Innovation Campus has excellent public transportation accessibility, including Line 3 and the suburban railway,” and added, “We expect residents in the northern Gyeonggi region to receive AI content connected with global big tech companies such as Amazon and Google.”

Furthermore, he urged, “Our city should lead the AI industry as an ‘AI Special City,’ with all departments actively discovering policies that can integrate AI technology and considering ways for citizens to tangibly experience its benefits.”

Next, reviewing cultural events held in April and May, including the ‘Goyang International Flower Festival,’ ‘Haengju is Art,’ and the ‘Canola Flower Cultural Festival,’ the mayor stated, “In addition to hosting large-scale festivals, we have recently attracted many global major events,” emphasizing, “Please focus on products and foods that come to mind when thinking of Goyang and that people want to visit, so that the city’s brand value is imprinted and reproduced.”

Lastly, the mayor requested strengthening the complaint response capabilities of the ‘Dong Administrative Welfare Centers,’ which are most closely connected to citizens’ daily lives.

He stressed, “The Dong Administrative Welfare Centers are the places that listen to citizens’ inconveniences most closely and respond immediately,” adding, “Based on the On-site Complaint 25 system, it is more important than ever to quickly identify issues on the ground from the residents’ perspective and respond proactively.”

Meanwhile, the Goyang City Council cut about 16.1 billion KRW from the city’s first supplementary budget proposal for 2025 during the 292nd extraordinary session held in March. The cuts included 47 major projects such as the establishment of a public arboretum and public museum, development plans for the Wondang Station area, activation of the KINTEX support site, Changneungcheon rainwater retention facilities, and the creation of a north caf? in Ilsan Lake Park.
