Corporation States: "Appointed Through Fair Verification and Evaluation"
Gwangju economic organizations have called for the withdrawal of the appointment of a candidate with a history of misconduct during their tenure at Gwangju Transportation Corporation as the new Head of the Management Division.
On the 2nd, the Gwangju Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice issued a statement saying, "Candidate A, who had a record of misconduct while working at the transportation corporation, was appointed on the 1st," and added, "There are serious doubts regarding the appointment process for the Head of the Management Division at the transportation corporation."
They pointed out, "According to the transportation corporation, the candidate was appointed as Candidate A because no disqualifying reasons were found during the verification process," and added, "Even though our organization strongly urged thorough personnel verification for the two candidates from the transportation corporation among the four interviewees on the 19th of last month, the appointment proceeded as is."
They continued, "How will the members of the organization feel if a former employee with a record of misconduct is appointed?" and asked, "With the merger of the urban railway corporation and Gwangju City-affiliated transportation agencies, the responsibilities and roles of executives have become even more important due to the expansion of duties and the institution itself. Who will bear the losses and waste caused by improper appointments?"
They further emphasized, "We strongly urge both the formal and actual final personnel authorities of the transportation corporation to immediately withdraw the appointment of the new Head of the Management Division and to conduct a fair and transparent re-recruitment process."
In response, the transportation corporation stated, "The past allegations of misconduct against the new Head of the Management Division were cleared by investigative authorities," and explained, "The new Head of the Management Division was found to have no disqualifying issues and was appointed through a fair process of verification, evaluation, and review."
