Serving as CEO for Two Years... A Field-Oriented Arts Management Expert with 40 Years of Experience
Yoon: "Realizing a 'Warm Digital Cultural City' Where Art and Advanced Technology Converge"
Yoon Jung-guk (66), former CEO of the Gimhae Cultural Foundation, was inaugurated as the 8th CEO of the Seongnam Cultural Foundation on the 2nd.
The foundation appointed Yoon Jung-guk as the new CEO through a public recruitment process starting in February, with a term of two years.
CEO Yoon graduated from the Department of Korean History at Seoul National University, earned a master's degree from the Graduate School of Media and Communication at Hanyang University, and obtained a doctorate in Performing Arts Management from the Graduate School of Sungkyunkwan University. He worked as a reporter for the Dong-A Ilbo for about 20 years starting in 1983, serving as the head of the Culture Department. He later held positions such as President of the Chungmu Art Center, Secretary General of the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, President of the Gimhae Cultural Center, and CEO of the Gimhae Cultural Foundation. He has also served as an invited professor in the Department of Arts Management at the Graduate School of Arts, Chung-Ang University, making him an arts management expert with extensive experience in both the cultural arts field and academia.
Notably, during his tenure as President of the Gimhae Cultural Center and CEO of the Gimhae Cultural Foundation, he led significant achievements such as the introduction of a performance season system, the promotion of cultural city projects that led to Gimhae’s designation as a statutory cultural city, and the production and premiere of the original opera "Heo Hwang-hu."
CEO Yoon expressed his ambition, stating, “In Seongnam, which has great cultural and technological potential, we will realize a ‘warm digital cultural city’ where art and people, technology and the city harmonize.” He added, “Building on the achievements made by the staff so far, we will advance to a higher level of projects, and let us all do our best for ‘the happy lives of Seongnam citizens through culture and arts.’”
Especially, as the Seongnam Arts Center celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, he emphasized, “We must go beyond simple operation to become an institution leading culture and arts and leap forward as a central performance venue in Asia,” and stated, “Let us create a foundation for innovation together based on respect, consideration, trust, and communication.”
