Naju City Public Health Center has strongly urged citizens planning overseas travel to get vaccinated and strictly follow preventive measures to prevent the spread of measles in the community, as measles infections have recently increased worldwide.

Measles is a highly contagious respiratory infection that spreads through the air via coughing or sneezing. Symptoms include high fever, a full-body rash, and grayish-white spots inside the mouth.

In particular, infants under one year old are at a higher risk of developing complications if infected, so visiting countries where measles is prevalent should be avoided if possible. If unavoidable, infants aged 6 to 12 months must receive an accelerated measles vaccination before departure.

During overseas travel, it is effective to strictly follow personal hygiene rules such as wearing a mask, washing hands, and practicing proper cough etiquette, as well as avoiding crowded places to prevent infection.

If symptoms such as fever or rash appear after returning to Korea, you should immediately report your health condition to a quarantine officer and wear a mask when visiting a medical facility to minimize contact with others.

Kang Yonggon, head of the Naju City Public Health Center, said, "Measles is highly contagious, so it is essential to get vaccinated before traveling abroad. If you have symptoms such as fever or rash after returning, wearing a mask and visiting a medical institution to confirm whether it is measles and preventing its spread in the community is important."
