First Introduction of Unauthorized Occupation Maintenance and Comprehensive Survey
Securing 30% of Sales Proceeds and 15 Million KRW in Subsidies
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju has ranked first for the second consecutive year in the 2025 evaluation of public property management among autonomous districts conducted by Gwangju Metropolitan City. The district received high marks for its comprehensive survey and strengthened management system regarding unauthorized occupation or misuse of public property.
According to Gwangsan-gu on the 2nd, this evaluation was based on the results of Gwangju City's assessment of delegated public property management performance by the five autonomous districts last year. The evaluation focused on seven areas and sixteen items, including property management status, leasing performance, imposition and collection of compensation fees, sales performance, and management efforts.
Gwangsan-gu has increased non-tax revenue by imposing compensation fees on unauthorized occupiers and signing new lease contracts, while also working to understand the current status and improve regulations through a comprehensive survey of public property. The special grant tax of 60 million KRW secured through the comprehensive survey, which was introduced for the first time last year, also contributed positively to the evaluation results.
By being selected as number one, Gwangsan-gu will be able to retain 30% of the proceeds from public property sales in its own budget this year. It will also receive a subsidy of 15 million KRW for public property management. This secures available resources to expand resident benefits in local fiscal management.
Park Byungkyu, the head of the district office, said, "We will continue to enhance administrative trust through transparent and systematic management of public property and strive to ensure that tangible benefits return to the residents."
