50 Items Including Laptops, Desktops, and Monitors
Mokpo Coast Guard (Chief Kwon Oseong) donated a total of 50 items, including 7 laptops, 15 desktops, and 28 monitors, to the Korea Disabled Green Foundation and the Korea Disabled Informatization Association free of charge on the 2nd, in order to realize social values and bridge the digital divide.
According to the Mokpo Coast Guard, the free donation utilized decommissioned equipment that had reached its replacement cycle but was still fully functional. This initiative was carried out to help reduce the digital gap for vulnerable groups with limited access to information.
According to the Public Goods Management Act, national institutions can donate unused goods to local governments, public organizations, and non-profit organizations free of charge. Given the sensitive nature of IT equipment regarding security, security measures such as drilling storage devices like hard drives were completed to prevent data leakage.
A Mokpo Coast Guard official stated, "Although this is a small gesture, we hope it will provide practical help to those who have difficulty accessing digital devices," and added, "We will continue our social contribution activities to remain a warm-hearted Coast Guard that works together with the public."
