DGIST (President Lee Geonwoo) announced on the 2nd that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 2025 ‘Training Program for Professional Talent in Global Advanced Strategic Industry Technology Management’ project.

This project aims to cultivate master's and doctoral-level professionals in technology management for advanced strategic industries, thereby strengthening the technology management capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises and fostering talent to lead global technology commercialization. DGIST was selected as a recipient institution due to high evaluations for the clarity of its project goals and its pre-secured outstanding physical and human resources. The program will be specialized with a curriculum focused on AI and robotics.

DGIST to Establish Graduate School of Technology Management Specialized in AI and Robotics... Opening in March 2026 DGIST Campus

To ensure the successful operation of this project, DGIST is promoting the establishment of a ‘Graduate School of Technology Management,’ targeting an opening in the first half of 2026. A preparatory committee for the graduate school will be operated in the first half of 2025, with student recruitment beginning in September 2025 and the official opening planned for March 2026. In particular, to enhance the competitiveness of future new industries (such as robotics, AI, and smart cities) promoted in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, DGIST plans to run field-oriented education in collaboration with companies.

The DGIST Graduate School of Technology Management will offer a differentiated, practice-oriented curriculum based on specialized courses in AI and robotics. Notably, the curriculum is designed by benchmarking MIT’s ‘LGO (Leaders for Global Operations)’ program, integrating technology and management education. In the first year, students are required to complete core courses in engineering technology, global management, and technology commercialization. In the second year, tailored courses in advanced industries such as AI and robotics will be provided to further strengthen students’ practical skills. In addition, DGIST will pursue joint research and industry-academia cooperation projects with global companies and overseas universities (including MIT, IIT, IMD, etc.) to foster internationally competitive talent in technology management.

Lee Geonwoo, President of DGIST, stated, “In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is essential to have talent who can integrate technology and management,” and added, “Based on DGIST’s research capabilities and experience in technology commercialization, we will nurture global-level professionals in technology management and contribute to strengthening the industrial competitiveness of both the region and the nation.”

Meanwhile, DGIST plans not only to establish the Graduate School of Technology Management, but also to expand the global industrial ecosystem centered on regional industries and talent through the establishment of a global campus in Suseong Alpha City and a Graduate School of Engineering in Gumi. Through these efforts, DGIST is expected to strengthen national competitiveness and present a new educational model centered on science and technology universities that lead innovation in advanced industries.
