Honam University (President Park Sangcheol) announced on the 2nd that it held the inauguration ceremony for the 39th "Yeon" Student Council (President Kim Jinwoo), the General Club Association, and the student councils of four colleges.
The event, held on the 1st at the IT Square Plaza on the Honam University campus, was attended by President Park Sangcheol, key university officials, executives from the Alumni Association (President Kim Changseung), the presidents of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Student Council Association (Songwon University, Dongshin University, Gwangju University, Jeonnam Science College, Chosun College of Science and Technology, etc.), and current students. Kim Changseung, President of the Honam University Alumni Association, delivered the 2025 Student Council Development Fund to Student Council President Kim Jinwoo and offered words of encouragement.
Immediately after the inauguration ceremony, President Park Sangcheol celebrated the launch of the student self-governing bodies and encouraged both new and current students by hosting the "President Treats You" event, where 300 cups of four types of beverages?coffee, peach iced tea, green grape ade, and lemon ade?were distributed.
This was followed by congratulatory performances from the Department of Media, Video, and Performing Arts, the DRP Cheerleading Team, and the dance club "Atom." In addition, the "Yeon Playlist Song Festival," a singing contest featuring 17 student teams, took place.
President Park Sangcheol said, "I ask the Student Council to faithfully serve as a communication channel connecting students and the university in order to create a happy university where dreams come true."
Student Council President Kim Jinwoo stated, "I will continue the legacy of the seniors and colleagues who have dedicated themselves to the Student Council and strive to make it even better. Taking this inauguration ceremony as an opportunity, we will actively gather students' opinions and become a Student Council that grows by overcoming any challenges together."
