Expanding Portfolio into High Value-Added Business
Supplied to Samsung Display... Applied to Galaxy A26
DB Group's system semiconductor design specialist company, DB Global Chip, has officially entered the semiconductor market for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) chips for mobile phones. The company has expanded its business portfolio from existing IT-related OLED driver chips for TVs, monitors, and tablets to high value-added OLED driver chips for mobile phones.
DB Global Chip announced on the 2nd that it has started mass production of the mobile phone OLED driver chip TED (TCON Embedded Driver IC) and begun supplying it to Samsung Display. The resolution of this OLED driver chip is FHD+ (Full High Definition+) specification, featuring improved image quality and power consumption reduction technology. It also has excellent durability.

This chip is attached to Samsung Display's rigid OLED panels and is applied to the Galaxy A26 model released by Samsung Electronics earlier last month. This model is equipped with Samsung Electronics' mobile-exclusive artificial intelligence (AI) 'Awesome Intelligence' and is expected to sell 10 million units within the year.
Through this mass production, DB Global Chip has expanded its product portfolio from existing IT OLED driver chips to high value-added and rapidly growing mobile phone OLED driver chips. As the mobile phone display market is rapidly shifting from LCD to OLED, this marks a turning point that allows active response to the market, raising expectations that the effect will continue with improved performance.
DB Global Chip stated, "Based on the design assets (IP) and mass production capabilities secured through this mass production, we will expand our business area to the high-spec smartphone OLED driver chip market with high added value."
