Hyundai Economic Research Institute Appoints Song Won-geun, Former Vice President of Hankyung Research Institute, as New President

Expert in the Field of Economic Policy

On the 2nd, Hyundai Research Institute announced that Song Won-geun, former Vice President of the Korea Economic Research Institute, was appointed as the new president through the 39th regular general shareholders' meeting and board of directors held on the 26th of last month.

President Song, who graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in economics from Yonsei University, earned a master's degree in economics from the State University of New York and a doctorate in economics from the University of Illinois.


Based on his profound knowledge of economics, he is recognized as an expert in economic policy, having served as the head of the Economic Headquarters at the Federation of Korean Industries (now Korea Economic Association), Vice President of the Korea Economic Research Institute, and Head of Policy Support at POSCO Holdings.


Hyundai Research Institute stated, "We expect President Song to actively discover research projects that respond to the rapidly changing economic paradigm based on his diverse experience in research planning, corporate policy, and strategy development."
