LG Electronics Supplies Ultra-High-Efficiency Air Conditioners to Singapore Mega Logistics Center Equivalent to 9 Soccer Fields

Singapore, the Logistics Hub of Southeast Asia: Supplying HVAC Solutions
Customized for Local Urban Policies... Foundation for Expanding into the Southeast Asian Market

LG Electronics has supplied system air conditioners to a massive logistics center in Singapore, equivalent to the size of nine soccer fields. By showcasing its ultra-high-efficiency technology in a large logistics center requiring high-performance heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, the company plans to expand its presence in the Southeast Asian air conditioning market.

On the 2nd, LG Electronics announced that it supplied the high-efficiency commercial air conditioner Multi V i to a massive logistics center (total floor area of 59,800㎡) built in the Tuas area of Singapore. LG Electronics emphasized that it is the only manufacturer to fully meet all customer requirements through its localization strategy.

Singapore is a logistics hub for the Asia-Pacific region, and especially Tuas is emerging as a logistics and industrial center, with the world's largest automated port terminal construction project underway.

The logistics center where LG Electronics supplied air conditioners was designed with the goal of obtaining the highest grade, "Green Mark Platinum SLE (Super Low Energy - ultra-high efficiency)," under the Green Mark eco-friendly building certification program established by the Singapore Building and Construction Authority (BCA). To obtain certification, the building's Total System Efficiency (TSE) must meet strict standards, and a monitoring system equipped with efficiency measurement and reporting functions for HVAC equipment must be mandatorily applied, making the requirements very stringent. HVAC solutions with high energy efficiency are important not only for reducing operating costs but also for managing air quality to protect workers' health.

To this end, LG Electronics enhanced the performance of the Multi V i. A high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) engine was applied to enable active control tailored to the customer's energy-saving goals. Additionally, the heat exchanger area, which transfers heat between indoor air and refrigerant to regulate air temperature, was expanded by more than 10% compared to previous models, and corrosion resistance was strengthened to prevent salt damage considering Singapore’s maritime environment.

Furthermore, functions were added to the existing central controller to automatically calculate and display cooling capacity, power consumption, and total system efficiency, enabling real-time monitoring of energy efficiency within the building.

LG Electronics plans to rapidly expand its Southeast Asian air conditioning business based on this order. In particular, it aims to seize local customized air conditioning business opportunities by responding to Singapore’s Green Mark certification program and the "sustainable urban development" policies promoted by key countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia.

At the end of last year, LG Electronics established the ES (Energy Solutions) Business Division to grow its HVAC business. With the goal of achieving twice the market growth rate in the cleantech sector, the company is actively responding to new growth business opportunities such as data center cooling systems, nuclear power plants, and mega factories, where demand is rapidly increasing.

Lee Jae-sung, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics’ ES Business Division, said, "The success of the HVAC business depends on 'localization.' We will further strengthen our competitiveness with customized solutions tailored to regional and customer characteristics."
