Support for Employment Connections with Global Big Tech Companies
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 2nd that ‘Changjo Innovation Campus Seongsa’ located in Deogyang-gu has been finally selected as the site for the establishment of the ‘Gyeonggi AI Campus’.

As the first AI campus to be hosted in northern Gyeonggi, Goyang Special City is expected to emerge as a new hub for South Korea’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) industry.
The city received very high evaluations for its abundant demand base, excellent accessibility, commitment to administrative and financial support, and outstanding collaborative networks with local universities and institutions such as the Goyang Industry Promotion Agency, leading to its final selection as the suitable site on the 28th of last month.
In particular, during the on-site evaluation presentation, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City stated, “If semiconductors have been the driving force behind South Korea’s growth for the past 30 years, the future will be led by artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” adding, “We will soon announce concrete plans to develop Goyang City into a special AI city.”
The Gyeonggi AI Campus is an AI education facility operated by Gyeonggi Province, where activities such as technology sharing and collaboration among AI experts, network building, AI technology startup planning and mentoring, employment and entrepreneurship support, and educational programs for nurturing AI talent will be promoted.
A representative from Goyang Special City said, “With this selection, together with Gyeonggi Province, we will provide diverse and high-quality AI education programs to Goyang citizens and actively support employment connections with five global big tech companies (AWS, Google Cloud, Naver Cloud, NVIDIA, MS). In particular, we will establish an AI experience center to offer citizens more convenient opportunities to engage with AI realities.”
Meanwhile, based on the Gyeonggi AI Campus, the city is preparing policies to foster innovative companies in various fields such as smart farms, cultural content, biohealth, and autonomous driving, aiming to create a younger, more vibrant, and sustainable AI special city.
Attention is focused on the positive impact this selection will have on revitalizing the local economy and advancing future industries.
