Geumcheon-type Integrated Care in Full Swing... Eliminating Blind Spots through Medical, Nursing, and Care Coordination

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has established the ‘Geumcheon-type Integrated Care Support System’ to respond to the challenges of a super-aged society and care blind spots, presenting a community-tailored care model.

The district was selected in the ‘2025 Integrated Care Support Center Pilot Project’ contest hosted by Seoul City, securing a project budget of 65 million KRW. It plans to provide customized services to care recipients by establishing a ‘one-stop integrated care system’ that organically connects medical care, nursing, and caregiving.

Geumcheon-gu has been pioneering care infrastructure nationwide and within Seoul. It operates three regional Health Longevity Centers, the public one-room ‘Borin Housing’ for elderly living alone, and the specialized customized welfare counseling ‘Tongtong Welfare Call Center,’ strengthening care services within the community.

Through this contest selection, the district plans to further expand existing projects and add new care services.

The district will promote three new projects to reduce care gaps and improve medical accessibility: the ‘Visiting Oral Health Care’ project for elderly who have difficulty visiting dental clinics; the ‘Post-Discharge Patient Community Connection’ project supporting residents needing care after hospital discharge; and the ‘Long-term Care Home Medical Center Connection’ project to help elderly with long-term care grades receive medical services at home.

Additionally, existing projects such as the ‘Geumcheon-type Health Checkup Support’ and the ‘Borin Housing Residents’ Community Program’ will be expanded and operated.

Cooperation between public and private sectors will also be strengthened. The district has formed and operates an ‘Integrated Support Council’ to address care gaps, systematically supporting from preventive care to high-level care through regular integrated care meetings. It plans to provide customized services in collaboration with local hospitals, welfare institutions, and home care centers.

Meanwhile, Geumcheon-gu was also selected in the 2025 Seoul City-led District Specialized Care SOS Service contest. With a total budget of 80 million KRW, it supports residents in care crisis households through the ‘Visiting Customized Exercise Service.’

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “This pilot project will be an opportunity to further strengthen Geumcheon-gu’s integrated care infrastructure and present a model that can be expanded throughout Seoul. We will continue to expand customized integrated care services so that all local residents can live healthily and with dignity in their communities.”
