Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Discusses Improvement Plans for Roles and Support Systems of Art Support Organizations

Discussion Forum to Be Held at Artist's House in Daehangno on the 2nd

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 2nd that it will hold the fifth session of 'Art Policy Stories at 3 PM' at the Artist's House in Daehangno, Seoul.


'Art Policy Stories at 3 PM' is a forum that introduces the art policies promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in depth by topic and collects opinions from the art community. It is scheduled to be held once a week until the end of April.


At this forum, there will be a discussion on the role of art support organizations and the improvement of the support system. Centered on Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, Arts Management Support Center, and Korea Artists Welfare Foundation, which are representative support organizations in the arts field, the discussion will focus on the roles of each institution and propose ways to improve the support system more efficiently with a demand-centered approach.

First, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will present the roles of each art support organization and directions for improving the support system. Then, Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, Arts Management Support Center, and Korea Artists Welfare Foundation will present their key functions and plans for improving major projects. Afterwards, Senior Research Fellow Yoon So-young from the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute will chair the discussion. Participants will share various thoughts not only on the art support delivery system but also on what is needed for policies and projects desired by the art field to be realized.


Deputy Minister Yong Ho-seong of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "Last month, the Ministry announced the mid- to long-term policy directions and tasks of cultural policy through 'Cultural Korea 2035.' The key tasks in the arts field, such as expanding regional services, fostering the art market, and strengthening support foundations by sector, are closely related to the roles and functions of major art support organizations." He added, "Taking this forum as an opportunity, we will continuously discuss with the field ways to improve the art support system to enhance policy effectiveness."
