According to the steel industry, the Hyundai Steel union withdrew the strike at the PL/TCM and rolling lines of the cold rolling mill at Dangjin Steelworks as of 8 a.m. that day.

Earlier, Hyundai Steel management and the union began collective bargaining negotiations in September last year, but the talks stalled repeatedly over issues such as performance bonuses.

The union continued total strikes, partial, and temporary strikes until recently, and the management also implemented partial workplace closures on some lines of the cold rolling mill at Dangjin Steelworks.

Subsequently, the management lifted the workplace closures of Cold Rolling 1 and 2 at Dangjin Steelworks from the 12th of last month, and the union agreed to withdraw partial strikes from the following day, which seemed to open the door for dialogue. However, the negotiations broke down again just one day after resuming talks, and the union continued the strike until the 31st of last month.

With the union halting the strike, it is expected that collective bargaining negotiations between labor and management will resume. A Hyundai Steel official said, "Although the scheduled date for negotiations has not been confirmed, since the strike has been lifted, it is seen as a positive signal for the talks."
