"The Only Way Not to Commit a Sin Before the People and History"
As the ruling date for President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment trial is scheduled for the 4th, civic groups in Gwangju have urged the Constitutional Court to issue a dismissal ruling.
According to a Yonhap News report on the 1st, the Yoon Seok-yeol Immediate Resignation and Social Reform Gwangju Emergency Action (Gwangju Emergency Action), consisting of over 180 civic organizations, held a press conference at the 5·18 Democracy Square in Dong-gu, Gwangju, stating, "The Constitutional Court should issue a dismissal ruling against Yoon Seok-yeol as the people desire," adding, "(Dismissal) is the only way not to commit a sin before the people and history."
They also called for, "The National Assembly must immediately impeach Han Deok-su and Choi Sang-mok, who have blatantly violated the Constitution and obstructed the suppression of the rebellion," and demanded, "The Ministry of Justice should file for the dissolution of the People Power Party, which has continuously incited rebellion and provoked riots."
Furthermore, they emphasized, "Assuming the current situation is an emergency, preparations must be made to resolve this chaos and build a new Republic of Korea through the solidarity of constitutional protection forces."
The Gwangju Emergency Action is reportedly planning to travel to the Constitutional Court to demand President Yoon's impeachment and conduct a 24-hour overnight protest.
