36 National Assembly Members, Including Party Leader Lee Jaemyung, Join Campaign Rallies
Final Campaign Event Held at Damyang Central Park in Damyang-eup
Lee Jaejong, the Democratic Party candidate for Damyang County Governor, stated on the 1st, "I would like to express my gratitude to Party Leader Lee Jaemyung, the members of the National Assembly who visited Damyang, and the people of Damyang for supporting the victory of Lee Jaejong and the Democratic Party."
On the last day of the official campaign period, at 5 p.m. in Damyang Central Park, Lee concluded his campaign with a major rally attended by Democratic Party members Ju Cheolhyeon, Lee Gaeho, Hwang Myungseon, Han Junho, and spokesperson An Gwiryung.
During the campaign period, a total of 36 National Assembly members, including Democratic Party leader Lee Jaemyung, Kang Sunwoo, Ko Minjeong, Kim Minseok, Kim Byungjoo, Park Jiweon, Yang Bunam, Lee Gaeho, Jeon Hyeonhee, Jeon Jinsook, and Jeong Jinwook, participated in support rallies. Additionally, well-known figures such as Democratic Party spokesperson An Gwiryung, actor Lee Giyoung, Dr. Seo Seungman, as well as Jeollanam-do and Damyang County council members, and Gwangju city and district council members, joined Lee almost daily to visit various villages in Damyang.
Lee stated, "Many National Assembly members from the Democratic Party made the long trip to Damyang almost every day. This was a promise for the development of Damyang," and added, "The high early voting turnout is an expression of the will and determination of Damyang residents to unite their strength behind the Democratic Party."
He particularly emphasized, "With the Constitutional Court's ruling on the impeachment of Yoon Sukyeol scheduled for the 4th, a victory in this Damyang County Governor election will spark the momentum for a regime change in the upcoming early presidential election with the Democratic Party."
Lee continued, "Since the impeachment ruling by the Constitutional Court is scheduled, the dismissal of President Yoon Sukyeol is only a natural outcome, and the countdown to an early presidential election will accelerate. The rise of Yoon Sukyeol as the leader of a rebellion was due to our division in the last presidential election. We must unite firmly with the Democratic Party, win the Damyang County Governor election, and reclaim the government."
Lee was born in Subuk-myeon, Damyang County, and has served as a Blue House administrator, Democratic Party deputy spokesperson, chief spokesperson for Moon Jaein’s Gwangju campaign committee, and head of policy media for the Democratic Party’s Gwangju Metropolitan branch. Most recently, he was appointed as the chairman of the Democratic Party’s Damyang County Tourism Industry Development Special Committee.
Meanwhile, the main vote for the Damyang County Governor by-election will be held on the 2nd from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters must bring identification to cast their ballots.
