According to the police on the 1st, the National Police Agency has issued instructions to place the headquarters and Seoul Police Agency on Eulho emergency status from 9 a.m. on the 3rd, other regional police agencies on Byeongho emergency status, and to declare Gapho emergency status nationwide from midnight on the 4th, the day of the verdict.
When the highest level of emergency duty, Gapho emergency status, is declared, 100% of police forces can be mobilized. Under Eulho emergency status, up to 50% can be mobilized, and under Byeongho emergency status, up to 30% can be mobilized.
When such an emergency duty system is declared, police officers’ annual leave is restricted, and commanders and staff must remain in command positions to maintain an emergency communication system.
Meanwhile, after the announcement of the impeachment trial verdict date, about 3,200 riot police from 50 units were reportedly deployed near the Constitutional Court in the afternoon. The police plan to gradually increase the number of deployed personnel and mobilize a total of about 14,000 personnel from 210 units in the Seoul area, including near the Constitutional Court, on the day of the verdict to maintain public order.
Starting in the afternoon of that day, the police also began to put the area near the Constitutional Court into a full "vacuum state." Accordingly, the pro-President Yoon support group, the "National Defense Lawyers," decided to dismantle the tents installed near the main gate of the Constitutional Court.
