Contributing to the Community
through Developmental Rehabilitation Services
The Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Daegu Cyber University has been consistently providing volunteer speech therapy services to the local community for over 10 years since 2013, taking responsibility for language rehabilitation in the region.
The current program, held at the Speech-Language Therapy Center located on the Daemyeong-dong campus, is offered completely free of charge to children and adults experiencing difficulties with speech and communication through developmental rehabilitation services.
This volunteer service was established to fill the gap in language rehabilitation treatment within the local community, and many residents have received therapy so far.
Treatment is provided on a one-on-one, individualized basis, offering a variety of programs such as articulation therapy, auditory training, and training to improve language comprehension and expression, tailored to each individual's condition and needs.
All treatments are directly administered by professors from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Daegu Cyber University, enhancing professionalism and reliability. Experts with both clinical experience and theoretical knowledge conduct precise assessments and systematic guidance for each participant, resulting in a very high level of satisfaction.
The Speech-Language Therapy Center, where treatment is conducted, is located on the Daemyeong-dong campus and is equipped with devices and programs suitable for various developmental stages and types of disabilities, providing an integrated service that includes counseling for guardians and follow-up guidance.
In particular, the Daegu Cyber University Speech-Language Therapy Center possesses assessment tools related to speech and language disorders, devices for analyzing voice disorders and speech sounds, and auditory examination equipment.
Currently, service recipients include not only those referred by five special schools, hospitals, and welfare centers affiliated with Daegu Cyber University, but also individuals from outside Daegu?such as Jeju, Ulsan, and Pohang?who visit for diagnosis and treatment.
President Lee Geunyong stated, "Daegu Cyber University is taking the lead in eliminating blind spots in speech-language therapy within the community and reducing the suffering caused by speech difficulties," and added, "We will continue to strive to improve the quality of treatment and ensure that more people can benefit."
Daegu Cyber University provides hands-on training opportunities for students majoring in speech-language pathology and realizes a win-win model by delivering welfare services to the local community. Through this, the university fulfills its dual mission of education and service and makes a significant contribution to the realization of social value.
