This training was organized to strengthen capabilities aimed at reducing fatal accidents, the core goal of construction safety policies. About 300 participants attended, including team leaders and staff from construction safety, ordering, and permit departments of the province and city/counties, officials from Gyeonggi public institutions, construction site contractors, supervisors, and site managers.

According to Gyeonggi Province's analysis, over 50% of construction safety accidents occurred at private construction sites with budgets under 5 billion KRW, and more than half of the accidents by type were falls. In response, the province is promoting various policies through the "Comprehensive Industrial Accident Prevention Plan (2022-2026)" aiming to reduce fatal accidents at construction sites by 34% by 2026. As a result of these efforts, the number of fatal accidents at construction sites in the province decreased by 22%, from 116 in 2022 to 90 in 2024.

At the training, Lee Yong-su, chairman of the Safety Diagnosis Committee of the Korea Construction Safety Association, served as the instructor and delivered lectures on topics including ▲ current issues and improvement measures in construction safety ▲ safety responsibilities of construction project owners ▲ safety measures against major construction accidents such as falls ▲ review of safety management plans and improvement of risk assessments.

Gyeonggi Province is currently building the "Gyeonggi Construction Safety Management System," which allows real-time monitoring and management of construction safety conditions, scheduled for launch in July 2024. Detailed information such as the system’s workflow and screen layout was also introduced during the training.

Im Yong-gyu, Director of Labor Safety at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Reducing fatal accidents at construction sites requires active cooperation and effort from all construction-related personnel. Through this training, we hope to collectively consider practical safety management issues on site and seek solutions, encouraging everyone to actively participate in achieving the policy goals."
