Bright Eye 21 Hospital (Chief Director Kim Juyeop) announced on the 1st that it recently received a certification plaque from global ophthalmology specialist company Alcon for achieving 7,000 PanOptix cases.
The award ceremony was attended by Chief Director Kim Juyeop, Director Joo Jongdae, Director Ban Taesu, Director Kim Deokbae, Director Kim Geuno, Director Jung Muoh, Director Kim Seongil, Director Song Yongju, Director Park Beomchan, Korea Alcon President Choi Junho, and all staff members of Bright Eye 21 Hospital.
Since 2018, Bright Eye 21 Hospital has used PanOptix, one of the presbyopia and cataract correction intraocular lenses, performing over 7,000 cataract surgeries. Through excellent surgical outcomes and customized treatments, the hospital has achieved high patient satisfaction. Notably, it is the only hospital in the Honam region to reach 7,000 PanOptix cases, solidifying its position as a leading ophthalmology hospital in cataract surgery.
PanOptix, developed by Alcon in the United States, is a four-focal-point multifocal intraocular lens that treats both cataracts and presbyopia simultaneously. This lens provides a continuous range of vision from 40 to 80 cm and is optimized for intermediate distances of 60 cm, which is the most common viewing distance for Koreans, enabling patients to comfortably perform daily activities without difficulty in focus adjustment after surgery.
