Gyeonggi Province Public Officials Donate 114.73 Million Won to Wildfire Victims

Gyeonggi Province has donated 114.73 million KRW in relief funds to support the recovery from wildfires and aid the victims in the Yeongnam region.


On the 1st, Gyeonggi Province announced that Governor Kim Dong-yeon, employees of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, three labor unions of the provincial office, and the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters collectively donated 114,735,900 KRW to assist with wildfire damage recovery and support for disaster victims in the Yeongnam area.


The relief funds were handed over to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association and will be used for recovery projects in disaster-affected areas, emergency supplies support, and aid for disaster victims.


Governor Kim Dong-yeon, while delivering the donation, stated, "Gyeonggi Province mobilized the largest number of firefighting equipment and firefighters nationwide to do its utmost in wildfire suppression and protecting disaster victims. We have already allocated 3.5 billion KRW from the disaster relief fund and are supporting various relief supplies with the sincerity of our residents, and we plan to continue these efforts."

He added, "My wife and I visited Andong last weekend and saw how devastating and difficult the situation was. Please stay strong, and I sincerely hope you can return to your daily lives as soon as possible," offering words of comfort.


Earlier, starting from March 22, Gyeonggi Province urgently deployed the largest firefighting force nationwide to the site. Additionally, emergency relief kits, daily necessities, and 3.5 billion KRW from the disaster relief fund were provided in two separate rounds.


In particular, on the 29th and 30th of last month, daily necessities worth 17.4 million KRW were purchased through the Gyeonggi Small Business Association and delivered to three villages in Andong, Gyeongbuk (Andong Sinheung-ri, Wonlim 2-ri, Dorori).


Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province donated 10.5 million KRW during the 2019 Gangwon Province wildfires and 61.2 million KRW for the 2022 Gangwon and Gyeongbuk wildfires.
