Hampyeong County: "Let's Address Anxiety and Depression Together"

Hampyeong County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 1st that it will provide customized psychological counseling support for residents experiencing psychological difficulties such as depression and anxiety.

The county will operate the "National Mind Investment Support Program" year-round to help residents struggling with emotional issues. Eligible recipients include: ▲those recognized as needing psychological counseling by psychiatric medical institutions, mental health welfare centers, youth counseling and welfare centers, Wee Centers, etc.; ▲those identified as having moderate or higher levels of depression in the national health checkup mental health examination; ▲youth preparing for independence and children with extended protection; ▲those referred through the pilot project connecting local clinics with mental health care services.

Applicants wishing to receive support can visit their local town or township office with a pre-issued referral or apply online through the "Bokjiro" website. The county will provide selected individuals with a voucher card worth up to 640,000 KRW, which can be used for up to eight one-on-one counseling sessions (each session lasting at least 50 minutes).

County Governor Lee Sangik said, "I ask that residents experiencing mental health difficulties actively utilize these services," and added, "As taking the first step in caring for one's mental health is important, I hope many residents will use this opportunity to regain a healthy mind."
