Sangmyung University announced on the 1st that Jang Doyoung and Choi Minseok, fourth-year students majoring in Space Design, won the Grand Prize in the student division of the 5th Museum of Emotions competition hosted by Buildner, an international architecture contest.

The core of this competition is to design a space where two contrasting emotions, such as positivity and negativity, can be felt. Participants are required to submit works that use only visual elements without any text, captions, or annotations.

The students' entry, "Beautifully Cruel," depicted a situation in which the exterior becomes more splendid as flowers are planted, while the interior grows darker. It also portrayed people inside, gradually losing light, gathering toward a single ray of light.

Jang Doyoung said, "This project made me reflect on whether the beauty we instinctively pursue is a pure exploration or a selfish act," adding, "This creation was a fun and meaningful experience."

Choi Minseok also commented, "Through this competition, I had a great opportunity to communicate beyond the barrier of language," and added, "I want to continue participating in various international competitions to further develop my abilities."
