Strengthening Safety Capabilities of Partner Companies with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and KOSHA
Establishing an Autonomous Safety Management System at the Level of the Main Contractor
On April 1, S-OIL held the "2025 S-OIL Partner Companies Safety and Health Win-Win Cooperation Project Kick-off Ceremony" at the S-OIL Ulsan Plant, marking a new beginning in strengthening safety and health together with its partner companies.
The event was attended by Kim Beomseok, Director of the Ulsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Jeong Jongdeuk, Head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, as well as key executives including Hong Seungpyo, S-OIL Chief Safety Officer (CSO), and Kim Bochan, Ulsan Complex Head. Over 300 representatives and staff from partner companies participating in this year's win-win cooperation project also gathered at the event.
Over the past several years, S-OIL has operated various win-win programs to enhance the safety capabilities of its partner companies in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. This year, a wider range of partner companies will participate, and a variety of differentiated safety and health programs will be implemented in earnest.
In particular, this year will focus on spreading autonomous prevention systems among partner companies through initiatives such as sharing risk assessment techniques, KOSHA-MS certification, prevention of confined space work hazards, improvement of work environments related to musculoskeletal disorders, and safety and health education and cultural experiences. Effective tasks tailored to the field conditions and characteristics of partner companies will be newly promoted.
At the event, Hong Seungpyo, S-OIL Chief Safety Officer (CSO), stated, "The win-win cooperation project is more than just a support program; it is an important opportunity for partner companies to become the main agents of safety by recognizing and eliminating risks themselves," emphasizing, "We hope that the main contractor and partner companies will share the same level of safety culture and sense of responsibility as one community."
Kim Bochan, S-OIL Ulsan Complex Head, also said in his welcoming remarks, "With large-scale projects such as the Shaheen Project underway, the roles and responsibilities of partner companies are more important than ever," adding, "Safety is not a choice but a necessity, and a zero-accident workplace can only be achieved when everyone works together with one heart."
During the kick-off ceremony, there was a reading of a declaration expressing the commitment of major partner companies participating in the win-win cooperation project, followed by a briefing on the project operation direction by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. All participants reaffirmed their commitment to creating a safe workplace.
Going forward, S-OIL plans to strengthen its partnership role with partner companies to prevent serious accidents and establish a safety culture based on trust, and will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as a leading company in safety and health through close cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
