On the 1st, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a donation ceremony in the mayor's reception room, where 16 major local retail stores contributed a total of approximately 50.54 million won from the "Profit Sharing Project for Standard Waste Bag Sales."
Major Retailers Donate 50.54 Million KRW from Volume-Based Waste Bag Sales to Changwon Special City.
The donation ceremony was attended by Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of Changwon Special City, Kang Ho-yeol, President of Namchangwon Agricultural Cooperative, Ahn Yoon-jun, Manager of GS The Fresh Towol Branch, Lee Jong-myeon, Director of Jinhae Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, and Park Eundeok, Secretary General of the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea.
The city has been pursuing an agreement for the "Profit Sharing Project for Standard Waste Bag Sales" with major retailers that sell more than 100 million won worth of standard waste bags annually, in collaboration with Changwon City, the retailers, and the Community Chest of Korea, to return sales profits to the local community.
This year marks the fourth time the project has been held, with cumulative donations reaching 208 million won. The funds donated this time were generated from the commission profits earned by the 16 participating companies over the past year from standard waste bag sales, and will be used to support low-income households and community welfare through the Community Chest of Korea.
The participating companies include: ▲ Five Lotte Mart branches ▲ Three Homeplus branches ▲ Two Emart branches ▲ Three GS The Fresh branches (Daebang, Towol, Jinhaeyeojwa) ▲ Namchangwon Agricultural Cooperative Agricultural and Marine Products Distribution Center ▲ Jinhae Nonghyup Hanaro Mart ▲ Ungdong Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, totaling 16 locations.
The city plans to strengthen administrative support and publicity to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of this project.
Mayor Hong Nam-pyo stated, "I sincerely thank the representatives of the 16 participating companies and the Community Chest of Korea for actively joining the Profit Sharing Project for Standard Waste Bag Sales," and added, "We will do our best to spread a culture of warm sharing throughout the community."
